THE SCRIPTURE
2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God maybe thoroughly equipped for every good work."
The word “All” means everything. All that is written in the bible is the word of God. Relatively, the word of God is God Himself (John 1:1). It is important to read, meditate, understand and apply His word in our lives because it helps us to grow in faith. Of all books that have been and soon to be published, nothing’s like the bible. This is the written law of God which contains all His commands that people need to know and do to be saved. It is a life-changing scripture inspired by the Holy Spirit.
The Bible teaches us that “Man cannot live by bread alone but by every word that comes out from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4. For the word of God is our spiritual food that is vital for spiritual growth. As the body needs food, so it is with the soul. In the spiritual sense, the soul is fed by His word. The scripture teaches us to obey and to be faithful. It rebukes us of our sins, corrects our mistakes and trains us to become righteous. Reading the word regularly gives us the strength to do what the Lord is commanding us. Furthermore, the gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes as the Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:16. So, we should not be ashamed to proclaim it to other people. This was his charge to Timothy when he said: “Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and careful instruction…” (2 Tim. 4:2) May we also find the strength and the courage to proclaim the word with boldness through the power of the Holy Spirit.
